Those who chose to twist over stick on the start line went very bust and had to throw a U-turn. A Feva and Lightening were chief culprits, names withheld for legal reasons.
The course was set to Drake’s Island with a short run to NW Winter and back to West Mallard. The spring tide and gusty Westerly made for an ‘interesting’ ride both up and downwind.
Martin and John did battle in the Solos over first place with Martin winning again. Jon did get in front for a time – so there is hope for another name to top the results sheet.
Bella Fellows in the Feva managed the gusty conditions very smoothly and came in an excellent third place.
There were massive clumps of weed about causing some mysterious braking effect to a number of boats which was frustrating.

The race organisers shall not be liable for any loss, damage, death or personal injury howsoever caused to the owner/competitor, his skipper or crew, as a result of their taking part in the race or races. Moreover, every owner/competitor warrants the suitability of his boat for the race or races. By completing this entry form, participants accept that they are responsible for themselves, their crew, and their boat, whether afloat or ashore. Nothing done by the organisers (ie. the Club, race management team and anyone helping to run the event) will relieve the participants of their responsibilities. The provision of patrol craft does not relieve participants of their responsibilities. Neither the establishment of these conditions, their use by the race organisers, nor the inspection of the boat under these conditions in any way limits the absolute responsibility of the owner/competitor. The crew are nonetheless advised to satisfy themselves as to the experience of the skipper and the adequacy of all safety equipment and insurance arrangements.
Offshore Races: The safety of a boat and her entire management including insurance shall be the sole responsibility of the owner/competitor who must ensure that the boat is fully found, thoroughly seaworthy, and manned by a crew sufficient in number and experience who are physically fit to face bad weather. The owner/competitor must be satisfied as to the soundness of the hull, spars, rigging, sails and all gear. He must ensure that all safety equipment is properly maintained, stowed and in date and that the crew know where it is kept and how it is to be used.

There is no better time to join the Royal Plymouth Corinthian Yacht Club than at present, as we are currently in the middle of an exciting Regeneration Programme aimed at transforming the club and the facilities offered. Also, for while, we are waiving the ‘Joining Fee’ which was 50% of the Annual Fee.
The Clubhouse is being refurbished and we have just purchased a fleet of club owned dinghies of the latest specification in which Members can learn to sail at very advantageous rates compared with normal commercial rates in the area.
Similarly, qualified Members can hire the boats again at favourable prices.
We also have many members with larger yachts who participate in our sailing events and our cruising programme.
We have a very full and varied Social Programme throughout the year with many of our members joining to enjoy the Social life of the club and the use of the Bars and Restaurant, and take in the magnificent Panoramic Vista from our Viewing Lounge and Large Balcony.
