Beep Beep – Enterprise Report 2012-05-23
Gusty Northerly wind. Course was LPIV. South Mallard, South Winter, beat to Ash, West Mallard.
It was a super close finish but back to the start….
From the reaching start it was Rob and Wallace in the Spoon first to South Mallard followed very closely by Chris driving Diskinetic and the rest of the fleet.
The leg from South Winter to Ash was very gusty with small bombs giving 30 degree headers and lifts. All the Ents stayed upright but we had to navigate around numerous asymetric boats who had been skittled by the frequent random gusts.
At Ash it was still the Spoon with Different Shade one boat length back.
On the second beat Martin and Nick caught an awesome lift and overtook Different shade and called Spoon on starboard. Spoon cleared by 2 feet to stay in front but with 2 close challengers.
With a good breeze 4 laps were completed with Egg n Spoon, Different Shade and No Nails finishing within 3 seconds.
It was great racing with pressure on all the boats from the gun to wring out every last knot or degree from the shifts and gusts.
Top curry at the club followed. Billy was there to greet us in the dinghy park with Fish and Chips from Platters. Not a portion for each of us but we did nick the odd chip. Platters would be an ideal sponsor for a gastro-boat.
