Force 4 RPCYC/ WHSC Late Summer series Race 4 Thursday August 18th

A warm summer’s evening with up to 15 knots at 6.30pm enticed the Race Officer to send us on a beat up to South Winter before a reach to its close cousin NW Winter. We left W. Mallard to port on a broad reach before a devilish run to a laid mark close to Fisher’s Nose. The wind kept up well for 2 laps but died for the last meaning that the finish around Fisher’s nose became a tense battle for places.
Unfortunately the Squibs couldn’t launch so we look forward to them being back next week.
Thanks to Chris Hampe, Race Officer, his line crew and to the safety boat.
Congratulations to:
1st Rob Beaton in Egg &Spoon
2nd Peter Hickling in Dyskinetic
3rd Martin Bevan in Malt-Easer 3

1st Neil Boughton in The Cabinet Maker’s Art
2nd Ken Pearce in Stratosphere
3rd Steve Oliver in Toad

The Sound must have looked tranquil from the RPCYC race office but the 15 knot wind gusted to 25 knots as some dinghies wobbled on their run as they closed Dunstone buoy after leaving W. Mallard to port. Then there was a long beat back to NE Winter before turning for a reach to Liberty buoy off the club.
The Squibs sailed a longer course which escaped me during the battle to keep upright.
Congratulations to:
1st David Wines in White Magic
2nd John Barton in Echo
3rd Paul Hardy in B of the Bang

Enterprises: Martin Bevan
Handicap: Chris Hampe

Thanks to Keith Woodgate, Race Officer, the line crew and the safety boat crews. A welcome to Joe Sibley , a new Safety boat helm.
