21 Mar Thursday 21st July Force 4 sponsored Early summer series
A dying SW with the last knockings of an incoming spring tide led the Race Officer to set us on a beat to Melampus after leaving buoy X (we thought it was a kiss!) to port. Most went off into Jennycliffe to avoid the worst of the tide. Then it was S Winter to port and a laid mark off the club to port.
The course was wisely shortened but Hugh Spencer was so ahead he couldn’t hear the extensive shortened course alerts from the Race Office straight away! Sometimes it pays to be slow.
The Squibs results were as follows:
Archimedes 1st Charlie Thomson
White Magic 2nd David Wines
Echo 3rd John Barton
There WILL be racing next week despite the ‘do’ on the Hoe but the prizegiving for the early summer series will be on August 4th.
Thanks to the Race Officer, the safety boats (a welcome to Jack, a new safety boat helm) and the line crew.
A special thanks to Billy Bartlett, ace Enterprise sailor, who has given up a season’s racing to help out on the safety boats.
P.S. X is NE Winter
RPCYC Sailing Secretary
Thanks to PDSSA for the photo from the PPSA regatta, it was windy!
